Just on a quick note .. we have started with the Coccinelle and Girafe the topic "winter clothes" - les vetements d'hiver.

Week 3.January - 7.January 2011

The holidays are over and we are returning to our schedule.
In english we will continue with our winter and snowman topic. This week we repeat our snowman theme to slowly continue with the topic "winter clothes" next week inshaAllah.

This week we will (for example) talk about the cold weather, build our own snowmen (key vocabulary: snowman, head, body, hat, scarf, buttons, carrot), learn a small poem with the older children:

Head ball,
belly ball,
bottom ball,
Done!
Building Mr Snowman
is always lots of fun!

We will watch the cartoon Frosty the snowman (ATTENTION; only until minute 4:36!!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeVaj4zkWy0
because after this the christmas topic starts, so if you watch with your children at home, please stop at 4:36 min.

for those who like to work with the children at home and like crafting, you can try to build a snowman made of paper like in the video.

Let's build a snowman!

This activity was a bit harder. Each child received an envelope with cards (snowball for the body, snowball for the head, carrot for the nose etc). The child had to put them into the right order, so that at the end it would have a real snowman!

Cette activité a été un peu plus difficile. Chaque enfant a reçu une enveloppe avec des cartes (boule de neige pour le corps, boule de neige pour la tête, la carotte pour le nez, etc). L'enfant a dû les mettre dans le bon ordre, et à la fin, il aurait un bonhomme de neige réel!
